This weekend we had a superb Family Fun Day for the rebranding of Hanson Building Products to Forterra. Alongside the nature reserve’s marquee, we had live music, kids play zone, bungee run, new and old brickworks vehicles on display, brickworks tours and free food, all provided by Forterra.
The weather was fantastic and we had many people visit the nature reserve for the first time which was brilliant. In total we had over 650 people attend the open day. We can certainly testify to that as we were rushed off our feet in the nature reserve marquee, which had, amongst many things, displays by the Cambridge Archaeological Unit, wildlife quizzes and a selection of the reserve’s native wildlife (grass snakes, common lizards, slow worms, great crested newts) and pet snakes all on display.
It was good to see so many nature reserve members in the afternoon. A great list was also gathered for our Biodiversity Blitz, with several new species recorded!
